Pastoral Council.

The Pastoral Council was established following the creation of the Shellharbour City Catholic Parish in 2002. At its most fundamental, the purpose of the Pastoral Council is to assist the Parish Priest in the running of the Parish, as well as make recommendations and lend input on issues that require assistance. In addition, the Pastoral Council constitution outlines goals which include:

•The promotion of the Pastoral life of the Parish community by         co-operating with the Parish Priest in his ministry with the people of God in the parish;

•Reaching out by modelling Christ in outreach, evangelisation and ecumenism; and

•Furthering the unity of the parish and fostering cooperation, whilst respecting the difference of those in the community. (Constitution of the Shellharbour City Catholic Parish Pastoral Council 2005 p. 5)

In addition, a number of sub-committees are reportable to the Pastoral Council for detailed assistance on particular issues. Such committees include the Liturgy Committee, Hospitality Committee, and the Family Committee, among others.

The Pastoral Council convenes bi-monthly meetings beginning in the February of each year on the third Thursday of the month, and non-council members are welcome to attend. Enquiries can be directed to the incumbent Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, or Secretary of the Pastoral Council – to obtain specific contact details, contact the Presbytery during office hours.

All Saints Prayer

God of all holiness

you gave your saints

different gifts on earth

but one reward in heaven.

May their prayers be our

constant encouragement for

each of us to walk worthily

in our vocation.

We ask this through

Christ our Lord.

All holy men and women, pray for us.
