Liturgical assistance

Description/scope
The smooth running of the each week’s Masses greatly depends on members of the Parish, who dedicate their time to assist in a number of roles. These roles include both junior (ages 9-16) and adult (ages 16 and over) Altar servers, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, and money collectors and counters. There is an ongoing demand for people to fill these roles, which contributes both to the efficiency and sanctity of the Mass.

Activities
The activities of Liturgical assistants differ in accordance with their individual roles. Altar servers both prepare the church before, and assist the priest during Mass; Extraordinary Ministers assist the priest in the distribution of the Holy Eucharist; and money counters and collectors undertake what their name suggests – collect, and count the money collected during the Mass.

Times
Liturgical assistants work subject to a roster, and people can nominate a day or week convenient to them. Typically, Liturgical assistants are called upon once a month to participate in their respective roles.

Contact/joining requirements
With the exception of money counters, Liturgical assistants are required to undertake preparatory programs prior to their service, which are advertised in the weekly bulletin. These programs are interspersed throughout the year subject to demand, and further information on individual roles or specific times can be provided from the Presbytery.

All Saints Prayer

God of all holiness

you gave your saints

different gifts on earth

but one reward in heaven.

May their prayers be our

constant encouragement for

each of us to walk worthily

in our vocation.

We ask this through

Christ our Lord.

Amen

All holy men and women, pray for us.
